In-Person vs. Distance Healing Sessions

In-person sessions

can be conducted hands-on, hands-off, or a combination of both styles. Due to the warmth and touch of the practitioner’s hands, hands-on can feel very comforting. As the practitioner uses their skills and intuition to work with you in a way that serves your highest good, you may feel unusual heat, or tingles, or pulsations, or a combination of sensations coming from the practitioner’s hands, or even inside of your body.  Sensations vary from person to person, but all agree that whatever they feel is very peaceful and relaxing.

The hands-off style works more with your aura and finer energetic bodies. Interestingly, the client often feels warmth, like the practitioners’ hands are still on them.

At the end of each session, we will discuss what showed up during the session, and how to proceed with self-care and follow-up treatments, if you need them.

Distance sessions

 are basically the same as in-person sessions. We start with a consultation and then move on to the treatment. The treatment can be “hands-on” or “hands-off” with the practitioner using a surrogate, such as a large teddy bear, laying their hands on it where you need the healing, or working in your aura.

The sensations in the practitioner’s hands feel the same to them as in-person. And at times the client may feel heat, tingles, or pulsating energy, or even like the practitioner’s hands are on them even though they are far away. Because of the nature of Reiki energy healing, time and space are irrelevant and the healing energy is transmitted instantly to the client. At the end of your session, you feel relaxed and balanced, often accompanied by a deep sense of peace.

What will I feel during or after a Reiki session?

Just as people are different, experiences from person to person may vary. During a session, most people report feeling a warmth flowing from the practitioners’ hands or through their body or both.  Some report seeing colors or having a tingling feeling.  Some may fall into a peaceful and relaxing sleep. Most people after a session report a continuing feeling at peace, rejuvenated or re-energized, clarity of mind, less stress/anxiety, and more in harmony with themselves and others.

What do I need to do to be better prepared for a session?

Source gives us the wonderful gift of free will.  Reiki cannot work for you if you do not allow it to do so.  Therefore prior to a Reiki session, I suggest that you meditate for a short time every morning prior to your session date and just put the intention out there that you are open to receive your treatment and looking forward to it.  This will help you to begin your energetic alignment process even before your Reiki treatment begins!

Addiction/Substance Abuse Recovery

Reiki energy healing is especially useful in supporting people who are in recovery from addictions and substance abuse. Reiki is very empowering and heals confidence and resistance to positive change.  It also moves positive energy through the meridians eliminating blockages which can help with the toxic damage in the mind, body, and spirit and raises your vibrational frequency.  The energy shift will help to create peace, harmony, and balance which will assist with cravings and help you replace self-judgment with self-confidence, helping you to feel a new sense of self-forgiveness and control over your life and to develop healthy patterns.  (2 sessions/week recommended)

Chronic Illness and Pain Relief

One of the toughest things to deal with in life is chronic pain or illness and in trying to find the pain management that works.  Reiki helps with homeostasis which in turn aids in calming the nervous system and takes the mental focus from the issue.  This allows the body and mind to enter a deep state of relaxation that reduces stress and cortisol levels, pain, and inflammation, which often reduces (and sometimes eliminates), the need for medication. If you suffer from chronic issues like Migraines, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Lyme disease, Lupus, etc., Reiki can help to reduce the discomfort, strengthen your immune system and energy field, and calm your nervous system allowing more opportunity for healing to take place (2 sessions/week recommended)

Compassion Fatigue

There has been a dramatic increase recently in people experiencing compassion fatigue even before the pandemic.  It is not just being experienced by medical workers, first responders, healers, or caregivers but in the general population as well. The symptoms can range from unexplained tiredness or fatigue, sadness, grief, guilt, lack of motivation, lethargy feeling lost, unease, exhaustion, and feeling overwhelmed, and you do not know why you feel this way. Reiki helps you to feel centered and balanced again, with a deeper sense of inner peace no matter what is happening in your world.

COVID Lockdown Fatigue

Like compassion fatigue, many may feel they are suffering from lockdown fatigue after our world turned upside down in March 2020.  Humans need touch and are social beings.  However, most of us did not get that during the lockdown and social distancing requirements of COVID-19.  From working parents of school-age children to the children who could not go to school, to the elderly, we have all been impacted.  Whether working from home and social distancing or living day to day on the front lines like our essential workers, first responders and medical experts did, COVID has had an impact on ALL of us, including our animals as we now go back to work and leave them home alone again during a portion of the day.   Symptoms may present as those listed above in compassion fatigue and in-person Reiki is the perfect technique to help ease these symptoms because in-person Reiki involves touch while clearing the negative energy and restoring balance and the flow of Ki.

Depression/Emotional Trauma/PTSD Relief

Payment Plan

Payment plans are available for students in need. Students can pay the class deposit and then make 3 or 4 monthly payments on the balance. However, balance must be paid in full prior to the first day of class and no promotional discounts offered from time to time shall apply to payments made in installments, only to those payments made in full at one time.

Refund Policy

Session Refunds

If you need to cancel a session due to unforeseen circumstances, you may reschedule for another day.  If that is not possible, a full refund will be given to the original form of payment as long as the cancellation is made within 24 hours prior to the scheduled session.

Class Refunds

Refund Policy:  If you find that you cannot attend the class due to some unforeseen emergency, you are welcome to reschedule to another class of the same level within a year of the original registration request.  Rescheduling for In-Person can only be accommodated when space is available.  Online classes have unlimited space available.  If rescheduling is not possible, a refund will be issued to the original form of payment, minus the deposit fee which will be retained for office expenses.

Privacy Policy

By submitting your personal data to Divine Shine Reiki (also referred to as “DSR” in this policy), and by using the DSR website, you agree to the terms of the DSR Privacy Policy.

What personal data do we collect and why?

Registrants to the DSR website provide basic contact information, including name, email address, physical address, and phone number. When purchasing products and services, DSR additionally collects financial information, like credit card details. All purchases are re-directed and handled through PayPal.

The DSR website includes links to third-party website, The International Center for Reiki Training – https://www.reiki.org and PayPal. When you disclose information at this forum, it may be viewed, collected, and used by others depending on the privacy policies of these third parties’ entities.   DSR does not monitor or administer these sites and/or public forums, and so they are not bound by the DSR Privacy Policy. 

How DOES Divine Shine Reiki use your personal data?

Divine Shine Reiki uses your personal data, in a limited fashion, only to:

·  Facilitate communication between students and/or clients.

Where is your information shared?

Your information is only shared to the extent necessary to fulfill our business obligations, to accomplish one of the lawful purposes described in this Privacy Policy, or in response to your express instructions. Information provided to DSR may be accessible to our DSR staff, and vendors who administer and maintain our website and webstore and vendors who distribute print and electronic mailings.  

Beyond this, DSR will disclose personal data, without notice, only in limited circumstances, when necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on DSR, (b) protect and defend the rights or property of DSR, its affiliates or this site; or (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of DSR or affiliate personnel, users of their websites, or the public; or (2) if required to do so by law.

Site metrics for Divine Shire Reiki may also be collected by DSR.  The information will be aggregate data and will not include personal data. 

Access to and control over your information.

Registrants may correct or update their personal data, request a copy or their information, make updates or request restriction or deletion of their personal information by submitting a request to Kimberley Toone at the contact information identified above.  

Divine Shine Reiki intends to retain personal data only so long as necessary to carry out  business activities and comply with it legal obligations.  Those who submit Personal Data to DSR are required to notify Divine Shine Reiki in the event they cease to be active with DSR, or if they otherwise want their personal data deleted.

If you are in the European Union and wish to raise a concern about the processing of your information, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority pursuant to the EU General Data Protection Regulation. 

Your information is secure.

To protect your personal data, Divine Shine Reiki maintains reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards. Unfortunately, despite such measures, no data transmission over the Internet and no database or other depository of information can be one hundred percent secure. As a result, while we will strive to protect your Personal Data, we cannot and do not guarantee or warrant the security of any of your Personal Data. We will not be and are not liable for disclosures of your personal information due to errors in transmission, networks that we do not control, or unauthorized acts of third parties.

 Children (under 16 years of age).

Divine Shine Reiki does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 years of age. If a child has provided us with personal data, a parent or guardian of that child may contact Divine Shine Reiki to have this information deleted from our records. 

What non-personal data do we collect?

Aggregate Data.
We may collect non-personal data on an individual and aggregate (or anonymous) basis that includes all site visitors. 

Non-Personal data collected on Divine Shine Reiki may be used to:

To enhance the performance and functionality of our site, we may use session and persistent “cookies” that store a small text file on your computer and collect certain information about your visit to our site. Personal Data is not in stored in the cookies used on our website.

A “session” cookie is stored only in your computer’s working memory (RAM) and only lasts for your browsing session. It is used for server performance tracking.  When you close all your browser’s windows, or when you shut down your computer, the session cookie disappears forever.

A “persistent” cookie is stored on your computer’s hard drive until a specified date, which could be tomorrow, next week, or 10 years from now. Other tracking technologies

When you visit our website, the server housing the pages automatically generates a “session log.” We use session logs to help us determine how people travel through our site. In this way, we can structure our pages so that the information most frequently visited is easier to find. By tracking page visits, we can also determine if the information we are providing is being used. The only data gathered is the Internet Protocol (IP) address from which you came, the website that referred you, the pages you visited and the date and time of those visits.

Users may be directed to Divine Shine Reiki via banner ads or site links. Ads or site links that are placed by DSR use cookies or web beacons to deliver metrics on the effectiveness of the ads or links. They do not collect personal data from the user.

California

California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits website users who are California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not sell, transfer, or otherwise disclose Personal Data that we collect from or about you. The ICRT does not use automated decision-making services using your personal data and does not otherwise share personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We may share Personal Data that has been aggregated, de-identified, or otherwise anonymized and thus does not directly or indirectly identify you and that cannot, with reasonable efforts, resources, and technologies, be used to re-identify you.
